OUR CULTURE

Standards of Conduct at CHP

We are a customer-driven organization, guided by our Mission Statement. We strongly value honesty and integrity in our relationships with all we come into contact with as we go about our day-to-day business. We have defined and are guided by the following standards:

  • We believe in continually seeking improvement in all the ways that we serve others, coupled with practicing good stewardship of the resources entrusted to us. These two goals will form the framework of our being a quality-driven organization.
  • We formally practice honesty and integrity through a process of compliance that establishes lead responsibility, committee oversight, policy and procedure guidance, and organization-wide understanding of key laws and regulations that affect us.
  • We encourage the identification of any actions or activities that do not appear to fit our understanding of compliance. We respect and protect the right of individuals in the organization to report such situations without fear of retribution. We do not tolerate fraud or abuse of laws and regulations that apply to us.
  • We are entrusted with confidential information about those we serve and work with. We are obligated by that trust to protect the confidentiality of that information by only releasing or discussing information when we have the authorization to do so.
  • We practice honesty in our business by following all rules and laws relating to our organization. We also comply with our defined responsibilities in legal documents and contracts. Within the legal and regulatory obligations, we pay particular attention to these areas: enrollment and disenrollment, benefits and member protections, quality assurance and performance improvement, cost sharing, claims processing, appeals and grievances, contracts, and other legal obligations. We also follow our own organization policies as part of these responsibilities.
  • We are thorough and prompt in responding to any reports of suspected non-compliance. We will first seek all relevant facts, and then determine a course of action based on the facts and the course of discipline outlined in policy. Information regarding a reported situation will be shared only with those that have a “need to know.”
  • We respect the rights of those we serve and those that we come into contact with as we conduct our business. We communicate those rights in appropriate documents used in the organization. We seek to follow our own organizational mission on a daily basis.
  • We avoid any situations where there may be a conflict of interest between various parties that we are involved with. This would include conflicts with contractual partners, members of our Board of Directors, vendors that provide services to us, our members and clients, and our own employees. We will not conduct any business or receive any inducements that would conflict with laws and regulations or would have the appearance of being less than honest and open.
  • We seek to provide a work environment that fosters safety of both employees and those served. We will comply with good safety practices and workplace regulations that assist us in reducing harmful situations.
